Fishing Rods

When non-fishermen look at or think about fishing rods, they normally think
that every one looks the same and serves the same purpose. Though it might seem
that way to the casual observer, it’s simply not the truth. Fishing rods are
actually quite specialized and they come in many different types, brands,
shapes, sizes, and prices.

The carbon fibre fishing rod is one of the least known fishing rods in North
America, as it has its roots in European fishing. This fishing rod, which is
used mostly for coarse fishing in Europe, can vary in size. It comes anywhere
from five meters to an extremely long 18.5 meters long. These fishing rods are
made to be very sturdy, as they’re often called upon in the process of bagging
fish upwards of one hundred pounds.

Fly fishing rods are probably the complete opposite of the carbon fibre rod.
Where that rod is long, strong, and sturdy, the fly fishing rod is built for
finesse. These long, thin, flexible rods are built for the North American fly
fishing style. In this style, the fishing rod must be cast quickly and it must
be light enough to accommodate the fisherman on foot. Originally, these rods
were made of bamboo, but they have since become much more advanced. Now, fly
fishermen carry fly fishing rods that are made of some sort of composite
graphite.

Spinning fishing rods are the most common type of rod that is found in the boat
of most American fishermen. These rods are generally composed of fiberglass and
they can be anywhere from five feet to nine feet. With this type of fishing
rod, which is popular in American bass fishing, the reel hangs down below the
rod and the fishing line is allowed to move freely through the spool. This
allows for less friction, meaning that the rod can cast a longer throw and can
be reeled in more efficiently.

When fishermen want to fish for lighter species of fish, they usually turn to
an ultra-light fishing rod to do the trick. These fishing rods enable the
fisherman to use a lighter lure and they provide more of a challenge if the
fisherman happens to hook a big fish. This is a common choice for sport
fishermen who like to bring in the medium sized fish with quite a fight. These
fishing rods are usually shorter than other rods and offer much more
flexibility than what other rods might offer.

Fishing rods come in all shapes, sizes, strengths, and prices. From the
beginning fisherman to the experienced angler, there is a rod for just about
everyone. For the most part, the type of fish that one wants to catch will
dictate what type of fishing rod that person will use. Though some fishermen
deviate from this plan just a bit, the majority will opt to use a heavy rod for
heavy fish. With fishing rods becoming much more technologically advanced,
there’s a good change that more types will be popping up in the very near
future.
